Back to the magic.

OK. I geeked out a little on my last post. I have decided to keep this site about the magic and entertainment. For those of you who are interested in the the ways that I use technology I've started a separate blog called Computing Magic. Keep posted there to see what I'm doing.

Speaking of magic, as I write this I am watching a Queen concert on DVD, courtesy of Netflix. Music truly is magic. I have enjoyed Queen's music for a long time, but this is really the first time I've seen a performance other than the odd music video from time to time. Wow! It is really impressive the sound that these guys got from a pretty traditional rock quartet. It is hard to believe that all of that sound comes from a single guitar and a single drummer. By today's standards it's a pretty low-key concert. The special effects are simple. They have cords on all of their guitars and microphones. The music is non-stop and something to behold. It's a shame I never got to see it in person. I'm grateful to be able to go back on DVD and catch up.

I'm always thrilled by a concert. It's such a pure expression of energy between the performers and the audience. You don't have to think about a concert. You can just let go and feel it.

I've been told that in pubs in Ireland that someone will begin telling a story in a circle accompanied by bodhrans. As the story builds the drumming grows in intensity until finally everything comes to a climax. Pure energy!

Every form of entertainment is really an exchange between the performer and the audience. The performer pours energy into the show and the audience responds with applause, laughter, tension, screams... I like being on the stage, but it can be so much fun to be in the audience. Oooo! I gotta go. It's Bohmian Rhapsody and I have to help my daughter with her air guitar!
